A few weeks back I did the Chiltern 100 Cycle Sportive. A fantastic event right on our doorstep covering most of our well known regular routes and climbs. If you know the Chiltern hills you know this bike challenge is going to be tough since none of the climbs can be underestimated.
The Chiltern 100 – run by Human Race Events -is a yearly event that every rider in the UK should have on his bucket list to have been done at least once (or twice). The route takes you along the beautiful countryside of which I am lucky to call home. It actually fills me with pride that thousands of riders are coming to ride the event year ind and out to get to see what we locals are blessed with during most of our regular rides.
This year, although just few days before my wedding, I could again not resist to enter our local event. My friend James signed up with me and we went to have a fantastic day hanging out and ride with like-minded people. It was good to see that this time the Chiltern 100 was combined with the Chiltern Cycle Festival which meant that the venue was packed with all sort of bike related stands and food stalls.
Off for an early start we found ourself pretty quick at the coffee van to get our caffeine levels up. Not being a morning person that is really the only way to kickstart my day.
The event was perfectly organised from start to finish and a lot of helping hands were hovering around at the venue. We had a great fun day out and luckily the weather was perfect for the occasion. Taking the event for a spin rather than for a fast time was for us the motto of the day which enabled us to actually make a couple of friends along the way.
Please find below a link to register your interest for next year. You should not miss out on this fantastic event.
